Missing Accounts

Your credit file may not contain all of your credit accounts. Most national department store and major credit card accounts are included in your file, but not all. Some creditors, including gasoline card companies, local banks, credit unions, travel and entertainment merchants, may not report how you have managed your obligations with their institution to the credit reporting agencies.

If you have these types of accounts and they are in good standing, you may request that the credit reporting agencies add this information to your profile. Although they are not required to do so, many agencies will add verifiable accounts, for a fee. However, if these creditors do not generally report your activity, the added items will not be updated in your file in the future. You'll have to pay each time to have additional positive information of this type added to your report.
